IT was a lot different from new year in Pangasinan, but surprisingly, I had fun.. I guess change is inevitable, and with that in mind, I should always cherish the present because i'll never know if that's the last time i would ever experience that moment. So that's my resolution number one.
Instead of the foods i listed, we had different stuff. We had the beso beso at midnight, but instead of sparklers, we had sparkling champagne. Tito Caloy is a really fun guy to be with. His karaoke version of La Bamba reminded me of some funny character in a sitcom.
Finally, i met hugh. My long lost cousin. He does look like james bond as roy and julian claimed. Hugh, is my cousin's childhood friend. He is an american but i think my auntie unofficially adopted him. He always comes to family reunions and is considered to be family. I overheard him saying "Tita, you should try the pansit... kuya couldn't be..." How filipino could that be? Anyways, after midnight, me and Jules had a great time scaring our cousins, Roy and Hugh about stories of murder in Gastambide, Sampaloc Manila. So much for tourism. I was sorry we had to leave early. I was having a fun time. Ironic how "our generation" was in this one room exchanging stories while the older generation were dancing and watching fergie shake her booty on tv.
So here's a toast, to Ely Buendia for accompanying me throughout my new year withdrawal syndrome, to closing a chapter in my life, to opening a new one.
Happy new year.
